I'm a Firestarter, Twisted Firestarter...

My latest toy in my armamentarium of kitchen thingies. A mini charcoal grill which I place on top my stove underneath my hood. When it comes to grilling meats, I reckon nothing beats that charred, smokey flavor that you get from a traditional charcoal grill.

Ingredients:
1. Good quality well-thawed beef (I used boneless aged Black Angus short ribs for this)
2. Sea-salt and freshly cracked black pepper

Method:
1. Make sure you're working with embers at the start (i.e. no flames), cook the beef till desired
2. Fan the embers like crazy and you'll be able to summon the flames to engulf it towards the end for a nice charred finish
3. If your cut is too lean for any fat to drip off to ignite those flames, you may brush on some butter

This grill is great for cooking a whole array of goodies like satays, pineapple slices with sprinkled cinnamon, sausages, burger patties etc as well.

p.s: Disable your smoke alarm because it may get pretty smokey if your hood's suction isn't powerful enough

oh that's so cool! I think I might have seen these here too - its like a portable bbq, use once and throw? I never thought they could produce enough heat to cook but I will buy one now to try. It will be a fun thing for me and my kids to do on the balcony one weekend. (sorry neighbours...) I have in mind some chicken thigh kebabs with bacon, onions, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Serve with buttered rice.

That kebab sounds excellent. You may brush some olive oil onto the kebabs with using a rosemary sprig for that extra touch. Buttered rice is good stuff, long grain no doubt?
